Amazon say they’re ‘looking into’ a crash that saw one of their vans smash into a block of flats.
Emergency services raced to Kilmarnock’s Dean Street on Wednesday night after the Amazon van collided with an entry way that provided access to a residents’ car park.
The vehicle was lodged underneath the flats with Scottish Fire and Rescue confirming that two crews were dispatched to the incident.
The clock of flats were taped off by officials and the firefighters were spotted trying to prise the vehicle from the crash site.
Rescuers also took air from the vehicle’s tyres to lower the van’s height and also used ladders to get a better view of the damaged roof of the tunnel.
It’s reported that parcels loaded up in the crashed van for delivery were switched into a new van so that deliveries could still be made.
A video from the scene shows that a firefighter was tasked with slowly reversing the vehicle from the crash site after lowering the van’s height.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 6.55pm on Wednesday, July 17 to reports of a road traffic collision involving a van in Kilmarnock.
“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the town’s Dean Street, where firefighters were met by a commercial vehicle which had become trapped under a bridge.
