The incident took place shortly after Killie’s 1-0 win over St Mirren at the SMiSA Stadium on Saturday.
Police are asking for information after a group of young football fans brutally attacked a guy during the day on Saturday, sending him to the hospital.
The 60-year-old was attacked by a mob of young people at the SMiSA stadium after St Mirren’s Premiership match against Kilmarnock. He suffered significant but non-life-threatening injuries. Around five o’clock in the evening, something happened on Ferguslie Park Avenue.
One Buddie described how a group of youthful Saints fans, some of whom were only 12 years old, waited for Killie supporters to vacate the stadium.
After their team’s 1-0 triumph, they are said to have heckled and harassed the visiting fans as they left via Ferguslie Park Avenue and the White parking lot exit.
David Smart, a lifelong Saints supporter, reported seeing very small kids “cowering” behind their parents as they attempted to get to their vehicles.
He told the Paisley Daily Express yesterday, “The Kilmarnock fans were celebrating and it all looked like quite good fun – nobody was being overly provocative or anything.” He went on to call for the banning of anyone found to be involved in any violence.
At first, it was just a trickle of Kilmarnock supporters going, so they may have dribbled out a little more slowly than usual because they were enjoying an incredible season. When I emerged, the supporters were looking a little confused and upset.
“I was shocked to see a group of about twenty or thirty small guys wearing masks akin to those from a horror film attempting to start a fight with a group of very confused Kilmarnock supporters.”
We are discussing a group that comprises ladies and kids. Parents with their children, you know, and no one could quite believe what was going on.
It was evident that the young men went to wait for the Kilmarnock supporters to arrive. They made no effort to conceal their intentions.
The entire situation was terrible, and there were a few skirmishes. At least five or six of the guys were charging forward, throwing punches and a little bit of handbag things, but they were doing it with genuine intent.
David went on, “I was furious and appalled. You have no idea how incensed I was over the entire thing. St. Mirren’s community club initiatives are really taking off, and this is the”I observed a young boy and girl who were probably around ten years old, and their father. Their only recollection of St. Mirren will be of them cowering behind him.
These boys, who range in age from 12 to 14, may be slightly older in some cases. They are merely young boys.
The issue they had was that, at the beginning of their raid, there were just a few hundred Kilmarnock supporters; nevertheless, soon after, there were roughly 1,500 of them, and the gang was somewhat pursued along the road.
For medical attention, the man hurt in the attack was sent to Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire’s Crosshouse University Hospital. All those who saw the incident or who might have dashcam footage of the mayhem are being urged to come forward by the police.
“Extensive inquiries are being conducted to establish the full circumstances of this incident,” stated Detective Constable Robert Urquhart of the Paisley CID.
We would like to hear from anyone who saw the event and hasn’t already spoken to police, as we are aware that the area was busy at the time.
“I would also encourage any drivers who were in the area and had dash cams to review their footage to see if they have any footage that could help with the investigation.”
The police were contacted by St. Mirren Football Club witnesses to the events of Saturday.
“St Mirren is committed to making the matchday experience enjoyable for all that visit the SMiSA Stadium,” a statement stated.
“The club recently launched our ‘Everyone is Welcome, We’re all Buddies’ campaign and continues to dedicate a great deal of time and research to making sure that we are inclusive to all.” We will not be commenting on the particular incident as this is a police investigation that is still underway.
