King Charles, who is undergoing cancer treatment, was joined by a number of his Royal relatives for the annual Easter Sunday church service at Windsor Castle today
Following a fan’s advice to “keep going strong” while undergoing cancer treatment, King Charles responded with an unexpected six-word response.
Easter Sunday church services at Windsor Castle were held in St George’s Chapel, where the King, Queen Camilla, and other members of the Royal family were present. One member of the public shook hands with the King and stated, “We’re all rooting for you, we’ve got your back.”
A man then greeted Charles as he proceeded down the queue, saying, “Happy Easter, Your Majesty.” Never give up; always persevere and never give up.” Then, in a surprising joke, Charles responded, “I have to obey my instructions!”
The Mirror claims that following the service, Charles and Camilla welcomed everyone and the King thanked them for waiting in the cold. However, only a small number of people were permitted inside the palace to see them. Other members of the Royal family, such as the Princess Royal and her husband, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke of York, and Sarah, the Duchess of York, joined him and the Queen.
Charles had a great day because it was his first public appearance since disclosing his illness. Earlier, spectators witnessed the King and Camilla arrive for the event; the latter was wearing a Philip Treacy hat and a green coat inspired by Anna Valentine.
Dressed in a smart dark coat and blue tie, the King was seen grinningly waving to the assembled crowd outside St George’s Chapel. He gave a pleasant wave in return when someone in the public greeted him on Easter, adding, “And to you.”
He also saw 65-year-old Anne Daley, who was waving a proud Welsh flag and had travelled from Cardiff to greet the King. He said, pointing her out to Camilla, “See, she’s from Wales.”
Ms. Daley reminisced, “I shouted back, ‘yes, I’m from Wales and have come here especially to see you,'” recalling the moment. He looked quite amazing and incredibly great.”
She added: “I wanted to show my support for King Charles and the Princess of Wales who we are all wishing well. We want to show them that we miss them, Wales misses her. She may not be here but she is not forgotten.”
As per tradition, the King sat in the Sovereign’s Seat inside the chapel, at the front of the altar. His family were also present, sitting in their usual spots in the stalls with St George’s Chapel designed so that the main congregation sits separately from the Royal family.
The King’s cancer treatment was made public in early February following treatment for an enlarged prostate. Despite this, he has continued to perform official duties privately within the palace. This is likely why there were fewer royals at this year’s service, as he has reduced his public appearances during his treatment.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, and Prince William were not present at the service today, nor were they accompanied by Kate. This follows the revelation last week of Kate’s cancer diagnosis.
After Kate’s significant abdominal surgery, post-operative tests revealed her condition, which the Wales family is coming to grips with as they spend the Easter holidays together.
Kate described her “huge shock” at learning she had cancer after her operation in a moving video message last week. Additionally, she discussed the “incredibly tough couple of months” her family had experienced.
Well wishes have been offered by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who stated: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”
Although Kate’s cancer kind has not been disclosed, at the end of February she began receiving specific medication to help prevent the disease from spreading. She says she feels “well and getting stronger every day” and isn’t losing hope that she will get better.
