Munster take play Leinster at Croke Park next Saturday but have a rather significant injury list to reckon with after victory over Ospreys in URC encounter at Virgin Media Park
Graham Rowntree will postpone Munster’s escalating injury concerns until the beginning of the next week, when Leinster visits Croke Park.
On a terrible night for the weather at Virgin Media Park, Rowntree witnessed his team thrash the Ospreys 23-0 to put their shocking loss to Zebre behind them.
“We picked up a few knocks but we’ll see what Monday presents in terms of scans,” Rowntree added. I’ll hold off till Monday. Another week has brought with it a few more first-half injuries.
We’re hit right now, it happens, injuries come in waves throughout every season, and we’re a little thin right now, but we’ll get through it.
“We’ll see what comes up on Monday morning. Watch out how the guys arrive. We need to get bodies on the pitch for our big game next week, so we’ll need to change our M”But I’ve learnt not to wait until Monday, not to worry about things until I get the scan results back and see how they are.”
In spite of the severe setbacks, Rowntree stated that following Italy’s reversal last Saturday, the response was incredibly satisfying. “It was, to nil them as well at the end there, they bombarded our try-line, I was pleased,” remarked the manager of the Reds.
“We were anticipating a response; in fact, I was looking forward to one, and I felt that our precision and physicality in those conditions were shocking. If you are not at pitch-side, you cannot appreciate it.
“We had one chance to enter their half in the second half of the game, and we were trying to figure out how to do it.”onday plans and see what we can put on the pitch.
Rowntree answered, “Control,” when asked how Munster should respond to the threat that Leinster will provide. Control over the ball, control our actions, and neutralise their dangers. Since they have so many players close to the maul and breaking out of it, access is always difficult against them. However, we’ll handle it on Tuesday.
“We’ll dust ourselves down on Monday and have a good review of this but at the end of a challenging week, I’m really proud of what they’ve done there tonight.”
