As his tenure with Mercedes draws to a conclusion, Lewis Hamilton is getting ready for a big change—he plans to join Ferrari in 2025. As the current campaign comes to an end, Hamilton paused to consider his twelve years with the team based in Brackley.
Hamilton is preparing for his final races with Mercedes, beginning with the recent Italian Grand Prix, which was his penultimate race in Europe with the team. There are just eight races remaining in the season. He posted his reflections on social media, expressing a sense of thankfulness and pride for the experiences he has experienced while serving. He told his story as follows:
“I realised as I was leaving Monza that this year’s European race was the last one.” This will be my final visit to my engineering room, which has served as my home for the past 12 years.I’m going through a lot of different feelings right now because this is such a special period in my life. My main emotions are pride and thankfulness. Both the memories and the ones I create the next year will endure forever.” In 2013, Hamilton became a member of Mercedes, taking over for Michael Schumacher.
His entrance in Formula 1 marked the beginning of the hybrid era, and he rapidly established himself as a crucial member of the team. His legacy in the sport has been cemented with his six world titles and eighty-four Grand Prix victories over the years. With the impending switch to Ferrari, Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will form an intriguing new alliance. Hamilton, who has long appreciated Ferrari’s legendary past and fervent fan base, sees this transfer as the start of a new chapter in his career.
Hamilton is focused on the path ahead and eager to seize the chances that lay ahead for him with the storied franchise as he gets ready for this new assignment. “I feel like… it was obviously the hardest decision that I think I’ve ever had to make,” Hamilton said in response to Formula 1. It goes without saying that I have been supported by Mercedes for, I believe, 26 years, and we have had an amazing adventure together.
I am really happy of what we’ve accomplished and I take great delight in the history we’ve made in the sport.”However, I believe that in the end, I’m writing my own story, and I thought it was time to open a new chapter.”Naturally, I believe that every driver who grew up watching racing history and Michael Schumacher in his prime watched the TV appear in our garage and observed the driver in the red cockpit, wondering what it would be like to be surrounded by red.
When you visit the Italian Grand Prix, all you can do is stare in amazement at the sea of scarlet Ferrari supporters. This is a team that hasn’t had much success since 2007, therefore I considered it to be a significant task. It’s a dream come true, and I’m ecstatic about it because I played
as Michael in that automobile even as a child.”
