Pegrum, 19, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him with the team through at least the conclusion of the 2025–2026 campaign.

Pegrum joined the Orient first team in August of this year, replacing Theo Archibald as a substitute in the season opener against Charlton Athletic, having advanced via the Orient academy. Pegrum has played in seven first-team games for the O’s, including his appearance at The Valley. He has played in three Sky Bet League One games, three Bristol Street Motors Trophy games, and one EFL Cup game.

Pegrum declared, “I’ve been at the club for six or seven years now, and this is all I’ve ever wanted,” as he signed his contract. You have no idea how long I have been putting in my hard work. Now that it’s finished, I feel so happy.

I think I returned to the preseason with a lot of strength and was able to establish myself in the starting lineup. I’m quite appreciative that I was given the opportunity, and this season has been excellent for me. I’ve been working really hard to gain as much experience as I can.

I’ve had assistance from the coaches both on and off the field with things like reserve games, and they provide me with knowledge to help me get better as much as possible.”

Charlie has been in the system for a long time, and his development has been really good,” said Martin Ling, director of football at Orient. He’s done a great job adjusting to the first team system and is a valuable member of the group.

We’re excited to watch how he develops further, and I believe he will continue to advance to an even higher level and will likely demand more playing time in the upcoming campaign.

After six or seven years at the club, all I’ve ever wanted is this. You have no idea how long I have been putting in my hard work. Now that it’s finished, I feel so happy.
