Joe Taylor was happy with the Imps’ response to surrendering an early goal, which put them in a strong position for next weekend’s final game against Portsmouth.

The striker’s spectacular solo performance, along with a barnstorming finish from fellow forward Freddie Draper, helped City secure a critical three points.

Taylor stated, After going 1-0 down, we responded very well. It took us a little while to get started in the game, but once we did, we settled in nicely and did our thing.

We have put ourselves in the best possible situation. We’re all simply looking forward to the Portsmouth game now.

Taylor heaped admiration on striking partner Draper as the 19-year-old volleyed home the winner in the second half, sending Imps fans into a frenzy at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium.

He said, “Freddie was outstanding. We had a conversation, and he said we could forget about the first 20 minutes and concentrate on the rest of the game.

He does so well because, for his age, he gets pounded up a lot in games, and he does an excellent job of staying in the game.

I was so happy when he got that goal because he thoroughly deserved it.

We did an excellent job clearing the ball early, and thankfully it fell to me,” he remarked.

I was able to get a touch in front of the man, and then I picked up the ball inside my own half, performed what I did, and spaces just kept coming up and rushing into them.

It’s always nice to score ten goals.” It’s a testimony to the boys and the hard effort we put in on the training pitch every day, and I’m just the lucky one at the top of the pitch to put it in the net.
