Frenchman had’seriously contemplated’ moving to Anfield before the 56-year-old announced his decision.
“Bitter for Liverpool: Kylian Mbappé is said to have seriously considered a move to Liverpool,” the BILD correspondent wrote in an exclusive post for CaughtOffside.
“I’ve heard that the French star was interested in working with Jürgen Klopp. His thoughts: Klopp would have made him a better player.
“With Klopp’s departure, this argument is no longer valid. Liverpool should now be officially out of the race.”
The World Cup winner presently leads the Ligue top scorers list with 20 goals this season.
An odd move for Liverpool.
