When it came to finances, Kylian Mbappe’s move to Liverpool always seemed like a dream.
With Jurgen Klopp expected to leave in the summer, things will not get any easier.According to Christian Falk, the
Frenchman had’seriously contemplated’ moving to Anfield before the 56-year-old announced his decision.
“Bitter for Liverpool: Kylian Mbappé is said to have seriously considered a move to Liverpool,” the BILD correspondent wrote in an exclusive post for CaughtOffside.
“I’ve heard that the French star was interested in working with Jürgen Klopp. His thoughts: Klopp would have made him a better player.
“With Klopp’s departure, this argument is no longer valid. Liverpool should now be officially out of the race.”
The World Cup winner presently leads the Ligue top scorers list with 20 goals this season.
An odd move for Liverpool.
The former Monaco striker’s high wage demands (and previously impossible asking price) have largely prevented Liverpool from putting their hat in the ring.
While the prospect of adding the voracious goal machine to the Anfield roster is appealing, it was always going to be a difficult fit with FSG’s sustainable philosophy.
