Emergency services raced to Scotland’s most dangerous road, near Luss, shortly before 9am today, shutting it in both directions.
Six people have been rushed to hospital after a crash between a minibus on two cars on a busy road around Loch Lomond. Emergency services scrambled to the A82, near Luss, shortly before 9am today, shutting the road in both directions. The smash is understood to have taken place close to Camstraddan House. An eyewitness claimed people have been “trapped” in the vehicles following the crash, which they describe as “serious”, reports Glasgow Live. Others have said the A82 – Scotland’s most dangerous road – was “gridlocked” in the area for several hours, with coaches and HGVs stuck on the road, which is a popular route to Luss and Loch Lomond Shores.
An air ambulance was among the mercy crews that raced to the scene. Four people were rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley to be treated, while two more were taken to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Their conditions are not yet known. The road was reopened in both directions after around four hours. Police Scotland have launched a probe into the smash.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We received a report of a crash involving three vehicles, a minibus and two cars, on the A82, near Luss, around 8.45am. Emergency services attended and four people were taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment. A further two people were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. “Recovery was arranged and the road was fully re-opened around 12.50pm. Enquiries into the crash are ongoing.”
