Having extended their winless run to six matches at home to Bournemouth on Wednesday night, Wolves are looking to bounce back by beating strugglers Luton Town this afternoon.

Although Gary O’Neil called the performance against the Cherries the worst he’s seen so far this season, he still believes his team is eager to make up for it against the Hatters and anticipates a fierce match.

“The guys are desperate to finish as high as we can and they’ve shown it pretty much every week,” he said to a Wolves official.

“We didn’t perform well enough to fall below that, but they recognise that we can’t lose two straight games and that we need to be at our best tomorrow.”

The only bright spot in their loss to Bournemouth was the return of Matheus Cunha, who played a strong last 35 minutes off the bench.

Despite the absence of four players for the Wanderers—Craig Dawson, Pedro Neto, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, and Santiago Bueno—Sutton believes the Old Gold are strong enough to expose the weaknesses of the visiting team and projects O’Neil’s team to win 3-1.

The 51-year-old stated for BBC Sport: “Luton, who are desperate for points, may view this as a favourable fixture because Wolves are in terrible form. That may not be how things turn out, in my opinion.

“Last week, I witnessed the Hatters fall to Brentford 5-1 at home. Although they have an attacking threat due to their spacious style of football, their defence is incredibly exposed.

“I recognise that Luton is taking a bold stance, but the Bees had a chance to score.”

Wolves can’t pass up this chance

Despite Luton’s desperate situation at the bottom, Wolves have a great opportunity to turn things around and win again based on their recent performance.

Last Saturday, Brentford thrashed the Hatters 5-1 as the front trio for the Bees—Bryan Mbeumo, Keane Lewis-Potter, and Yoane Wissa—ran wild.

O’Neil’s men will look to create havoc themselves, buoyed by that outcome and how forthcoming they were.

Cunha impressed as a substitute player against Bournemouth, and his skill set combined with Rayan Ait-Nouri and Hwang Hee-Chan might be a winning combination.

In an attempt to win and, ideally, set the stage for a successful season finale, Wolves can exploit their opponents on the counter.
