Atletico Madrid are closing in on the signing of Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez for a deal worth up to €95m.
Despite his contribution to their Premier League title victory, rumours that the Argentine is eager to leave the Etihad Stadium for the summer started to surface last month.
Alvarez made 31 of his 38 league starts, scoring 11 goals and dishing out nine assists, but he was unable to secure a berth in the City team when every player was available.
As a result, the 24-year-old is now expected to make a substantial financial transfer to Atletico Madrid in an attempt to replace Memphis Depay and departing Alvaro Morata. Samu Omorodion has also been connected to a summer transfer to Chelsea.
During the off-season, Atletico Madrid made two acquisitions: Alexander Sorloth from Villarreal and Robin Le Normand from Real Sociedad.
Conor Gallagher, an England international, is also getting close to joining the Spanish powerhouses after the capital team defeated Aston Villa and Tottenham in their pursuit of him.
