Man United starlet Rhys Bennett has agreed to join a new club.
The League Two leaders are likely to bring Bennett to Edgeley Park after fruitful talks with Manchester United this month.
Bennett, a centre-back for the Red Devils, came up through the club’s youth, joining at the age of 10.
The Manchester-born ace has appeared on the bench for Erik ten Hag’s senior side four times, twice this season, but is yet to make his first-team debut.
Bennett, who missed the first half of 2023 due to a major injury, has appeared eight times for United’s Under-21 team this season.
He has made 67 appearances for the club’s youth sides, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
The 20-year-old centre-back is now poised to begin his first senior loan with Stockport, who are aiming for promotion to League One just two seasons after returning to the EFL.
Bennett led United to FA Youth Cup victory in 2022 and was given a new contract at Old Trafford in July.
The youngster’s new side faces Notts County on Saturday (20 January), with a two-point lead over second-place Wrexham.
