Manchester United will be hoping to enjoy a successful summer transfer window

According to reports, Manchester United want to add Go Ahead Eagles manager Rene Hake to their backroom staff for the upcoming campaign.

Since taking over in 2022, Hake has led the Dutch premier league team to finishes of 11th and 9th in the Eredivisie in his two seasons in command. The 52-year-old, who began his managing career in 2003, will bring a plethora of expertise to Old Trafford. He has also held coaching positions at FC Twente, Cambuur, Utrecht, and FC Emmen in his own country.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils are eager to get Hake, which could see him sharing the dugout with Ruud van Nistelrooy. The former United attacker is considering taking up a role at the club after being sounded out to become part of Ten Hag’s backroom team for the start of pre-season.

Since taking over at United in May 2022, Ten Hag has had assistance from coach Steve McClaren and Mitchell van der Gaag. While Eric Ramsay left United earlier this year to take over as manager of MLS team Minnesota United, Benni McCarthy also joined the coaching staff, but he is approaching the conclusion of his tenure.

However, according to a recent Mirror story, the Dutchman has agreed to an almost £27 million two-year contract extension. This comes after it appeared that the former Ajax manager was about to lose his job before the FA Cup final last month.

The new contract’s conditions, which will contain provisions pertaining to Ten Hag’s and the team’s performance, are reportedly being finalised by United and his representatives.
