Joshua Zirkzee, a striker for Bologna with a £34 million release clause in his contract, is reportedly in talks to join Manchester United.

United may prioritize signing a center-forward during the summer transfer window, as Erik ten Hag’s squad only includes Rasmus Hojlund as a recognized striker. After joining the team in 2023, the young Danish striker was under a lot of pressure because he didn’t have many other options.

Zirkzee’s fair release clause makes him a desirable option for many clubs in Europe, but United is currently making a strong effort to sign him. After an outstanding 2023–2024 season in Serie A, the Dutch striker is currently playing in the Premier League.

Man United is in Talks for Joshua Zirkzee

An update on Zirkzee has now been released by Sky Sports News, who has confirmed some “breaking news” that United is in negotiations with his agents in an effort to persuade him to transfer to Old Trafford. The Red Devils are in negotiations with his agent regarding a possible transfer, and they are willing to pay his £34 million release clause.

Last season, Anthony Martial was ten Hag’s backup attacker, but the French forward had a season marred by injuries. Adding a second center-forward will be crucial for United because the former Monaco player’s contract is set to expire later this month and he will be leaving on a free transfer.

Similar to Hojlund, Zirkzee is a young striker, only 23 years old, so if Ten Hag decides to sign a contract, it will be interesting to watch how he handles having the two players in the attack. Given that Hojlund and Zirkzee both require consistent playing time, United will be hoping to avoid impeding their development.

Joshua Kimmich is a Priority Target for Manchester United

Manchester United is reportedly pushing to sign a second midfield player during the summer transfer window, according to a CaughtOffside report. United isn’t just looking for a striker; given Casemiro’s uncertain future, they may also be targeting another player in the middle of the park.

Joshua Kimmich, a midfielder for Bayern Munich, is reportedly now one of their top targets. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, for example, might be let go, as Kimmich is starting to show promise as a potential successor.
