Biffa is the League’s first official sustainability partner after a three-year agreement.

The British Basketball League is excited to collaborate with Biffa, the top sustainable waste management company in the UK, to promote cleaner, greener communities that lessen trash and safeguard the environment.

Introducing Biffa as the League’s official sustainability partner for the next three years. Under this relationship, Biffa will assist teams and venues in both the Men’s and Women’s Leagues in creating their own sustainability plans. This will entail clubs, locations, and Biffa collaborating to lower trash and encourage efficient recycling and reuse in their local communities.

This partnership has the potential to revolutionise the waste management sector as well as basketball in the United Kingdom. By making investments in the sport’s expansion, Biffa hopes to inspire a passion for the game, develop young talent, and assist British basketball ascend to new heights. It also hopes to strengthen the sport’s sustainability at all levels, from amateur to professional.
In order to encourage other companies and the upcoming generation to join the movement and learn how to be more sustainable and minimise trash, TheLeague, its clubs, and Biffa will lead new community activities. Throughout the collaboration, Biffa specialists will be available to support and counsel the League, teams, and partners.
This season, the League itself has already made major strides to support sustainability and the environment. Two examples of these actions include centralising its broadcast operations and creating content internally to reduce needless travel.

Everyone faces a challenge in the fight against climate change, and basketball, with 1.18 million weekly participants and its ranking as the second most popular sport in the UK, presents a great opportunity to inform and engage a wide range of people about the value of sustainability. The League has a national presence.
