The Addicks are unbeaten in their past 13 games and have not lost since Jones’ first game in charge against Reading.
Charlton have climbed out of the relegation zone and can now focus on the upcoming season, which promises to be entertaining with Jones in charge.
Since taking over, the Welshman has stressed steadiness in order to keep Charlton in League One next season, surrendering 15 goals in 14 games compared to 48 in the previous 30.
It has been a defence-first attitude, but with much of Charlton’s midfield due to leave the club this summer, Jones will want to bring in a new number 10 to bridge the gap between defence and attack.
Davis Keillor-Dunn has impressed for Mansfield, helping the Stags secure promotion from League Two with a 2-1 victory over Accrington Stanley, and the Englishman appears to be ready to make the step up next season.
Charlton will have to work hard to recruit Keillor-Dunn, as Mansfield will play in League One next year.
But, with the Addicks on the upswing and eyeing the playoffs, Keillor-Dunn would be the ideal statement of purpose signing for Jones’ new-look club.
Keillor-Dunn has been a prominent player in League Two this season, with 21 goals and nine assists for Mansfield.
The midfielder joined Mansfield in January last year, but with his contract only until 2025, Charlton may see an opportunity to sign Keillor-Dunn before he commits to a long-term deal.
Mansfield will be desperate to keep their star midfielder, especially as the club prepares for its first season in League One in over 20 years.
But, with Keillor-Dunn having his selection of clubs this summer, Charlton will believe they can provide the 26-year-old advancement in his career as they try to contend for the play-offs.
Tyreeq Bakinson, Louie Watson, Panutche Camara, and Lewis Fiorini are all expected to return to their parent clubs in the summer, while captain George Dobson has agreed to join Hungarian side Fehérvár FC when his contract expires this summer, leaving Jones with few options in the middle of the park.
Charlton are set to strengthen their midfield, and Keillor-Dunn would be an excellent acquisition, providing both a creative spark and a goalscoring number 10 or offensive midfielder.
Conor Coventry and Karoy Anderson are excellent central midfield alternatives, but the Addicks squad lacks a more attacking midfielder to fit in front of them.
Jones will look to push on next season after steadying the ship at The Valley and in a summer of upheaval for the club, there is a chance to rebuild and remodel this team in the image of the former Luton Town man, with Keillor-Dunn the creative fulcrum of the side.
