(Detroit CBS) – According to authorities, a 19-year-old guy from Michigan perished in a single-vehicle collision after losing control and crashing into a tree, a fire hydrant, and a utility pole before being ejected from his car.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office claims that at the time of the incident, the Pontiac man was operating a 2016 Dodge Charger.

The incident took place on Saturday at 1:18 a.m. The 19-year-old driver lost control of the car as it was speeding south on Franklin Road, jumped the curb, and collided with a fire hydrant, a tree, and a utility pole. Then he was thrown from the car.

He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

The 19-year-old was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities say his name is being withheld as they notify his family.

A 20-year-old Pontiac man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and wasn’t injured.

Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash.
