MICHAEL Carrick is looking forward to a celebration with Middlesbrough fans to honour his players’ achievements this season.
Boro’s end-of-season awards event will take place on Thursday, May 2, at Middlesbrough Town Hall, and tickets are on sale now.
The event will honour and celebrate the season’s most memorable moments for both men’s and women’s teams.
In the next weeks, fans will be able to vote for the award winners, and they will be able to attend the ceremony alongside management, staff, and players.
The event will be hosted by BBC Tees presenter Gary Philipson, who will interview Carrick, women’s manager Michael Mulhern, and captains Jonny Howson and Sarah Burn on stage. There will also be a live Q&A session with a special guest.
Carrick stated, “It’s always vital to recognise everyone’s contributions. When you win games or achieve achievement, your efforts are very visible.
“But whether you’re successful or struggling, it’s always because of everyone’s hard work, sacrifice, and effort.
“I think it’s critical that we realise and acknowledge that. This has been a season in which we have had to appreciate it even more. It’s had a little bit of everything, but maybe we can finish on a high note and have something to celebrate together.”
Boro have had a rollercoaster season, beginning poorly but improving as the season progressed. They also had a spectacular run to the Carabao Cup semi-finals before being eliminated by Chelsea.
The Player of the Year title is still up for grabs, with no clear front-runner as things stand. Rav van den Berg is a strong contender after an outstanding debut season on Teesside, while Jonny Howson has once again demonstrated his value. Matt Clarke has been superb since returning from injury, Seny Dieng has established himself as an important player, and Emmanuel Latte Lath is in top form as the season comes to a close.
The women’s team has had a fantastic season, their first complete season after merging with the club last summer.
Mulhern’s side is still in with a chance of gaining promotion from Division One North. They trail Hull City by just one point, but the league leaders have a game in hand.
Tickets for the end-of-season awards event are currently on sale, priced at £30 or £25 for season ticket holders.
