The San Jose Earthquakes are investigating a deadline day transfer for Millwall offensive midfielder Zian Flemming.

The 25-year-old began his career with Ajax, but he left the Amsterdam giants to pursue first-team football, spending time with Zwolle and on loan at NEC before joining Fortuna Sittard.

A few impressive years with the latter led Millwall to bring Flemming to English football in the summer of 2022, which proved to be a wise decision.

The Dutchman scored 15 goals for the Lions as they narrowly lost out on the play-offs last season, and while he hasn’t reached such heights this season, he does have seven goals and five assists, putting him first in both categories for Millwall.
There was a lot of buzz surrounding the youngster after his successful first year in the Championship, with Burnley making a serious attempt to recruit Flemming following their promotion.

Millwall remained firm at the time, but it appears that transfer interest in the player has not faded, as Flemming continues to attract admirers from all around the world.

That comes after The Athletic stated that the San Jose Earthquakes are considering a late move for the attacker.

“The San Jose Earthquakes have sought Millwall offensive midfielder Zian Flemming for their open DP berth but have yet to make an offer, according to sources familiar with the matter.

“The Quakes have had multiple targets for this open DP berth, most notably Carlos Vela, but no deal has been finalised yet. On the pitch, San Jose has suffered terribly, with eight losses in their first nine games, putting them last in the league.

It’s unknown how much Millwall would want for Flemming, but there was speculation in the summer that they were holding out for approximately £15 million when Burnley attempted to buy him.

However, given the Quakes’ poor form this season, as well as the fact that they lack the financial resources of a Premier League club, commanding such a premium would be challenging right now.
