Police have disclosed that when armed officers stormed a protected housing complex yesterday, they were looking for a guy they believed to be carrying a gun.
The residents of Radcote Lodge in Two Mile Ash were shocked when armed police barged in at 1:30 p.m., as previously reported by The Citizen.
Thames Valley Police have now provided an explanation for their presence. “Officers responded to a call at a Two Mile Ash address on Sunday and detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of carrying a gun with the intent to incite fear of violence and criminal damage,” the statement reads. He’s still being held at this moment.
“The arrest is related to an incident that happened in Bounty Street, New Bradwell, earlier that day, where someone threatened to harm a property owner.”
The powerful officers, who had been on the street for some hours, were armed with heavy firearms.
A guy informed the Citizen that he was picking up his 90-year-old mother from Radcote Lodge to take her out when three armed officers arrived, and then two more not too long after.
“I used my key to let them in because I didn’t want them to cause alarm by smashing the door down.”
Witnesses said that a police negotiator appeared at the area just before 3pm, and officers departed the council-run facility shortly after.
The public is appreciated for their patience, the police official stated. We don’t think the general population was in any danger. We kindly request that anyone with information call 101 and provide reference.
