Milton Keynes and beyond warned as M25 face another closure

This is a component of a road development plan financed by the government that also includes the construction of a new bridge over the intersections. The new bridge will have four beams weighing forty tonnes each and 68 beams weighing sixteen tonnes each.

Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and to only travel during that time. Additionally, the government body advises locals to heed its updates rather than using satnavs and GPS apps.

According to National Highways, the cost of the junction enhancement work was £317 million.

Prior to this, in March, the government agency decided to close the motorway as part of the rehabilitation plan. A bridge was destroyed and a new gantry was built while the busy road was closed.
While the roads are closed, another section of the M25 will need to be closed as workers move concrete beams into position for the eastern gyratory bridge and another enormous gantry.

“This is far from a repeat of the previous closure,” stated Jonathan Wade, senior project manager for National Highways, “because the alternative routes are different and longer for over-height vehicles and all other traffic.”

“The last time, drivers followed our instructions, which resulted in a reduction of motorway traffic by more than two thirds and little delays.

“Once again, please only travel if absolutely necessary. If you do choose to use the M25, make sure you allow extra time for your trip.”

When the enhancement project is finished, more lanes will be accessible for cars at the M25’s Junction 10.

Drivers can use National Highways’ pre-mapped diversion routes to avoid this section of the M25. It is advised, however, that drivers plan ahead for their travels.

The traffic agency is seeking to establish a third closure date for the plan, which is scheduled to be finished in the summer of 2025.
