The MNUFC2 forward Loïc Mesanvi, pronounced loo-eek meh-sahn-vee, has signed a short-term agreement with Minnesota United, and will be available for Saturday’s MLS home opener against the Columbus Crew at 1:00 p.m. CT. This marks Mesanvi’s second STA of the year and his final opportunity to be named to the starting lineup for an MLS match. Two Short-Term Agreements are still available from Mesanvi for competitions other than MLS.
Prior to Austin FC’s game last weekend, Mesanvi signed his first 2024 short-term contract. He played 13 minutes towards the conclusion of Minnesota United’s 2-1 victory over the Verde and Black to make his debut for both the league and the first team.
Mesanvi, a member of the MNUFC Academy U19 team, earned a contract with MNUFC2 in November 2022. Mesanvi went on to play in 18 games (five starts) throughout the regular season of 2023 MLS NEXT Pro, dishing out three assists and tallying one goal.
Mesanvi trained with MNUFC2 while with the U19 team in the summer of 2022. In 2022, he made two appearances and scored one goal for the Twos; the goal was particularly noteworthy because it was scored on September 11, 2022, on his debut at Timbers 2.
The attacker played for Minneapolis City Soccer Club of USL2 and NPSL as well as Lakeville Soccer Club before joining MNUFC Academy and MNUFC2. The Lakeville South High School alumnusus was selected a 2021 Mr. Soccer Minnesota Finalist in addition to his notable 2021 East Metro High School Boys Player of the Year awards.
