In the first leg of their League Twi play-off semi-final matchup with Crawley Town, MK Dons lost 3-0, and their manager, Mike Williamson, claimed that his team “didn’t even look like us.”
Liam Kelly, Jay Williams, and Ronan Darcy all scored goals to guarantee the Reds would have the upper hand going into the second leg at Stadium MK. Although MK Dons, who placed fourth in the table, were the presumptive favourites coming into the match, Scott Lindsey’s team prevailed through dominance.
“I think the disappointing thing is that we didn’t even look like us. We’ve got to assess that and put it right. I thought we weren’t aggressive enough or we didn’t pick up enough second balls in the first half. We controlled things a little more in the second half, but I think we needed to be more patient in some areas because we wanted to score so much. “We weren’t up to scratch in all areas and metrics. When we miss a chance in the opening moments and they go up the other end and score, we have to make sure we reset and regroup. We have to pick, I really think we have plenty of resources to overcome this.
“Since we are where we are, we must ensure that our mindset is correct, and it will be.”
He also understands how difficult the second leg will be for his troops at this point. “We know we have a mountain to climb, but we have a bunch of lads who can do that,” he remarked.One thing I observed was a willingness to push each other forward. The spirit remained the same despite differences in quality, but the effort and fight were there.
“We already know what we have and whose personalities we possess, so we don’t need any additional inspiration. I’ll show up on Saturday, run out of gas, and give it my all. If we do fall, we’ll do it with our true selves, our true feelings.like us and exploring every possibility. Now we’re eagerly anticipating Saturday.
“This situation involves a lot of moving parts, but our goal is to remain composed. We were below par in almost every aspect, and we suffered the consequences.”
