Mafoumbi may be heading back to the UK after Floriana’s draw against Connah’s Quay, a Welsh team, could occur. Potential rivals include League of Ireland teams Derry City and Crusaders, both from Northern Ireland. On Tuesday, June 18, Mafoumbi and Floriana, his new club, will learn who their opponents are.

The six-foot-five custodian joined Free State Stars of South Africa on a free transfer to England in 2017. Mafoumbi would go on to play 27 games for the Tangerines, keeping five clean sheets while also working under Simon Grayson and Terry McPhillips. At the time, the team was managed by Gary Bowyer.

The 36-year-old Congo international joined Mosta in Malta on a free transfer after spending 2020 on loan at Morecambe. Prior to signing with Differandge in Luxembourg, he spent two years in Malta. Most recently, he was a player with Noah in the Armenian Premier League.

After almost six months without a club following his January release by Noah, he returned to Malta for a second stint and is preparing for a campaign that will entail playing in Europe.
