Brannan stated in February’s fans’ forum that offers had been made to’seven or eight’ players of his squad, a position he confirmed in mid-March.

So far, only Charlie Brown has been revealed to have signed a new contract, which runs until 2025 with an option for an additional year.

Though the Shrimps are subject to an EFL embargo on regulation 17.3, which pertains to payments owed to HMRC, this does not restrict them from offering contracts to players.
However, according to EFL guidelines, it will be assessed by the league based on a club’s specific circumstances.

Brannan expressed optimism when asked if any other players were willing to follow Brown’s lead and commit to the club.

He stated, “We have a few who are ready to sign.”

“We’ll have to wait and see what happens with that but I’m hopeful.”

Morecambe’s preparations for Monday’s meeting against Barrow AFC at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium look encouraging.

They began with a victory over Accrington Stanley on Good Friday, stopping a four-game losing streak in League Two.

Nelson Khumbeni and Brown drew the most attention for Morecambe’s goals, but keeper Archie Mair also had a significant impact.

The Norwich City loanee made some key saves to lead the Shrimps to their ninth away win of the season.

It comes a week after the 23-year-old was chastised for two costly errors in Morecambe’s home defeat to Gillingham.

While accepting that criticism is an unavoidable aspect of being a footballer, Brannan believed that any negative should be kept in perspective.

The Morecambe manager remarked of his custodian, “He’s been outstanding; he’s only had one terrible game.

“Some people forget about his previous saves and can’t wait to point the finger.

“He’s a young boy who is still learning the game, especially given that he has never played in the EFL previously.

“You can make mistakes all over the pitch, sometimes people have to remember that players have families and feelings as well.”
