Shocked Hibs executives have described their top-six disappointment as “simply unacceptable” and disclosed that they have discussed a showdown with Nick Montgomery.

The Easter Road club has started a thorough investigation into the mishap. After losing a dramatic last-gasp equaliser against Motherwell, they will play their next five games in the lower part of the table; a victory is required to give their ambitions of finishing in the top six any chance. If they had won, the club would have been closely monitoring events at Dens Park tonight; but, because they were unable to hold onto the victory, they will, at most, be playing to finish the season in seventh place.

Top brass at Leith feel that placing in the top half is the bare MINIMUM necessary. Even though the team acknowledges that significant progress has been made off the pitch, they have taken steps to reassure fans that improving the team’s performance on the pitch is a primary concern and that they recognise this is an area that requires immediate attention. They claim that the new relationship with Bill Foley and his Black Knight Football Club group will contribute to improvements all around, and that the new collaboration will be involved in the investigation that was carried out over the weekend.

“Like all Hibs supporters, we believe that a club with our stature should, as an absolute minimum, finish in the top six,” a statement from Hibernian said. Being in the bottom six at the end of the season is just not acceptable.

“We got together following Saturday’s draw with Motherwell to discuss what went wrong this season and what has to be done to advance the team.

In light of this, we will work with Black Knight Football Club to undertake a thorough evaluation of the club’s football organisational structure. The review will be a thorough assessment of the football programme as a whole to make sure we operate at the best possible level.

We also had in-depth conversations with Nick Montgomery to figure out what went wrong with the current campaign, and we both agreed that the season’s performance has been disappointing. It’s acknowledged that performance needs to increase.
“Over the past 12 months, the team has made noteworthy off-field progress. Having said that, we would like to reassure fans that we are focused on improving their performance and progress on the pitch. We are aware that this must be resolved immediately, and the expertise offered by Black Knight Football Club, our newest partner, will enable us to advance in every aspect.

Finally, we want to express our gratitude to each and every one of you for your support during this really difficult campaign. Your support has been steadfast, and the Club is very appreciative. We’ll keep putting forth endless effort to produce outcomes that our supporters will be happy with.”
