Nathan Aspinall had to withdraw from a European Tour last month after taking a four-day vacation to Las Vegas with Michael Smith. However, it also uncovered some criticism, to which he has responded.
But he promised to try again in light of the criticism that he took a break from the sport and the fact that Michael Smith, who was with him when he won the World Championship the previous year, saw a sharp decline in his form. He claimed he is free to do as he pleases because he is essentially a self-employed contractor and is not obligated to participate in any activities because he makes his own money. Additionally, he said he would do it again next year if he plays in the Premier League.
“I support the choice made. Over the past two weeks, I have had the worst nightmare from people criticising us for going,” Aspinall remarked.
“Listen, look at my calendar. You can find a week for a vacation. If that’s the case, I’ll bite off your hand and take a vacation that week. In order to take some time off, we decided to cancel our EuroTour and take a vacation. We can only leave when we withdraw from events. Ultimately, I am not paid by the PDC, so I am free to do whatever I want when I want.
“I support the choice made. Mike and I thoroughly enjoyed our four days away. And I most likely will do it again next year if I am in the Premier League. It has not affected anything.
“On the plane, Michael’s girlfriend began to talk nonstop about darts. “Listen, stop talking to him about darts, we are away for a few days,” Michael yelled. It’s ironic that Michael and I will face off in the final game since everyone knows how close we are.
