Courtney Baker-Richardson has signed a two-year contract with Newport County, pending international clearance and EFL permission.

The forward, who signed a contract to stay with the team until the summer of 2026, is the eighth player the Exiles have signed this summer.

After spending the 2021–22 season with County, where he scored eight goals in 31 games, the 28-year-old is back with NP19.

After leaving Rodney Parade in June 2022, Baker-Richardson signed with Crewe Alexandra, a League Two opponent. During his 73 appearances for the Railwaymen, he scored 19 goals before his contract expired earlier this month.

Baker-Richardson’s career began at Coventry City, where he advanced through the youth ranks and made his senior debut in a 2013 FA Cup match against Hartlepool United.

Following his release from Coventry, he played for various non-league teams including Tamworth, Romulus, Nuneaton Town, Redditch, Kettering, and Leamington Town, where his impressive 22 goals in 62 appearances earned him a move to Premier League side Swansea City in August 2017.

In SA1, Baker-Richardson scored four times in 21 appearances before his release in October 2020. Across his career, he also shared spells at Accrington Stanley, Barrow AFC, and Barnet.

Expressing his joy at re-joining the club, Baker-Richardson said: “I’m very happy to get the deal over the line.

“I’ve obviously been at Newport before so I’m well aware of what is expected down here. I know the ambition of the club from when I was here. It’s a homely environment for me and I know what I must do to win the fans over.”

Welcome back to the Exiles, Courtney!

Subject to EFL approval, Newport County is pleased to announce the signing of Cameron Antwi from Cardiff City.

The highly regarded midfield player, who attended Fulham’s academy, signed a two-year contract to play for the Exiles.

The 22-year-old moved to Blackpool in 2019 after starting his career at the Cottagers. He progressed from the under-18s to the first team while at Bloomfield Road, making two appearances in League One. During his loan stints with Southport and AFC Telford United, he also picked up useful experience.

After moving to the Bluebirds in 2022, Antwi established himself as a vital member of Darren Purse’s Under-21 team. He made his Emirates FA Cup debut with the main team against Sheffield Wednesday last season.

He is now prepared to start a new chapter, this time with Newport County in NP19.

He declared, “I’m absolutely buzzing to be here,” when the agreement was finalised.

We’ve been in discussions for a while, so it’s been a while coming, but I’m happy to finally get everything approved.

“After talking to everyone at Newport, I was certain that this was the club for me.”
