Cobblers Nears Agreement for exciting star#

Several players, including the defender, will have their contracts expire this summer.

Sam Sherring, a defender for the Cobblers, says that “nothing has been decided” regarding his future before his deal expires in the summer.

After a stellar second season in which he made 30 appearances and significantly contributed to Town exceeding expectations, the 23-year-old centre back is sure to have many supporters when his current contract at Sixfields expires.

Although Sherring’s injury kept him out of action for six weeks, he has started the last four games and focus is now shifting to the summer, when he will be one of several Cobblers players without a contract.

“No decisions have been made, and nothing has occurred as of yet,” Sherring declared following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Charlton. “It was annoying that I was injured for a while, but I was concentrating on getting better, and now that I’m healthy, I want to finish the season strong.

“Though I’m sure there are things in motion and that agents and other things are going on in the background, my attention is on what’s happening on the pitch because I want to finish the season strong after missing some time due to injury.

“I have no idea what the future will bring. All I want is to keep playing and staying in shape. We want more than to merely limp through the night. We want to do more than just scrape by. My attention is focused on pushing as hard as we can to score as many points as we can.
The Cobblers’ next game, which is on Tuesday night at rival Peterborough United, is especially important.

Sherring continued, “We’re all aware of how important the game is.” We want to support the manager’s comments, which were made in the dressing room following the Charlton game. We had a terrific victory over them earlier in the season.

“Every game is one we want to win, but this one has a little extra flair. Although it’s a big game for the fans and the club, we will still respect them.
