Reading has been fighting a very difficult relegation battle this season, and it looks like things are about to get worse. According to some incredibly reputable sources who choose to talk exclusively to us at The Tilehurst End, the Royals are expected to get yet another points deduction.

When asked for a remark, an EFL spokeswoman said:

“Naturally, we were shocked to witness the awful circumstances at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on March 29, 2023. The EFL categorically condemns that behaviour and, as a result, has no choice but to impose a sporting suspension on Reading Football Club.”

When asked to clarify the behaviour in question, the EFL representative stated that they meant “the bit when the referee blew the full-time whistle and Reading won”.

“Reading Football Club winning games while remaining out of the relegation zone is unbearable. It’s something to do with sporting honesty.”

“The EFL will not hesitate to respond accordingly. That is, unless other clubs in the division object, in which case the EFL will reverse the decision.”

The Tilehurst End informed the EFL representative that Reading Football team had already been deducted 18 points since November 2021, during which time the team has endured relegation and a slew of off-field issues. In response, the EFL stated:

“The EFL continues to recognise the harmful impact that sporting sanctions have on football clubs. It is still tremendously upset and frustrated by the Club’s unwillingness to let its condition worsen by getting demoted a second time.”

At this point, it is estimated that the entire up-front penalty is only three points. If Reading wins at Bolton Wanderers on Easter Monday, a suspended three-point deduction will be enforced.

This publication pressed the EFL for guarantees that Reading would not face further points deductions after this one. The representative responded by saying “no, definitely not, deeeeeefinitely not” before giving a suspiciously overdone wink and literally uttering “wink wink” out loud.
