Marc Leonard and Kieron Bowie acknowledge that playing what will probably be their final games at Sixfields on Saturday will be “emotional.”

The young Scottish pair, who had two incredibly successful seasons with the Cobblers, will return to their parent clubs, Brighton and Fulham, in the summer. Between them, they have participated in almost 200 games, and they have both been crucial to Town’s ascent from League Two to the middle of the League One standings.

Cobblers play their final home game of the season when they host Exeter City this weekend.

Leonard stated on the Cobblers Show on BBC Radio Northampton, “I think it will be emotional.” “I know my parents and girlfriend will be a little emotional at the game, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.”

“The support from the fans has been incredible. On Saturday, there will be a lot of emotion, but it will also be a wonderful way to end an incredible chapter. When you go on loan, all you want is to play games—and play a lot of them—have the manager’s faith, and take pleasure in our success—it’s the perfect situation.

“I think I’ve improved as a player tenfold since coming here. I can’t express how much the club has done for me; I’ve learnt so much and gained so much experience.
We’re such a close group that I will miss the guys, but we’ll keep in touch and I think we’ll be tight for a while.

Bowie continued, “It feels a little odd that we have both only been here for two seasons; it almost feels like a two-year deal, but that’s just part of the game and people come and go.

Of course, having spent two years here is remarkable. We have made an effort to return the support that the supporters have given us. Many loans don’t work out, but this one has been really beneficial to us both. When we originally arrived here, we were simply young guys looking for an opportunity, and we were granted one chance and thankfully we took it and I can’t thank the club enough.
