There have been discussions, according to striker Louis Appéré, about staying with the Cobblers past this summer.

The 24-year-old Scot, who signed with the team from Dundee United in January 2022, is one of many players whose contracts expire at the end of the current campaign, including Shaun McWilliams, Lee Burge, Ben Fox, and Sam Sherring.

A couple of us have contracts expiring at the conclusion of the season, according to Appéré. We kept the squad together last summer when several of the boys re-signed, and I have no doubt that this year will be no different.
We’ve begun discussions, but for now I’m just concerned with the football; the rest will work itself out.

After Harry Isted’s mistake left him with an empty net, Appéré scored his fifth goal of the season against Charlton on Saturday. It was also one of the simplest goals of his career.

The ball’s come to me,” he said, “after the custodian made a hefty touch. Hosk saw it and placed pressure on him. Although it felt more like a gift, we’ll accept it, and I’m always glad to score a goal.

Hopefully I wouldn’t overlook those! I didn’t have much time to consider as the ball suddenly slid into the net. It’s unfortunate that we were unable to continue and choose a winner, but we’ll move on to Tuesday as it’s a significant game that we’re all excited about.

Although I’m obviously not from around here, I’ve come down and I know how important it is to everyone, even us players, so we’ll see what we can do.

I hope I’ve accomplished enough to get going. I took the goal and made an effort, but we’ll have to wait and see what the manager chooses.

Despite the fact that the Cobblers were far from their best against Charlton, Appéré’s goal in the 80th minute made sure they gained something in the game.

After the way the game went, I believe we’re very delighted with the point and it was probably a fair outcome, he said. “We’ll accept it and go on.

Our league standing indicates that we can compete with teams at this level, as we know.” We can compete with anyone in this league since we have a strong roster and group of players.

You would like to think that we are secure for the time being, but there are still a lot of games left and points to be earned. We will continue to divide the season into five-game segments and won’t plan too far ahead.
