The untimely death of a man in his 60s in a layby on the A45 is being investigated by police, and they are requesting information and dashcam footage.
The man in the silver Renault van was reported missing to Northamptonshire Police just before 1.40 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2. The man was parked in a layby on the eastbound lane near Denford, between Raunds and the intersection with the A14 at Thrapston.

Paramedics and officers arrived, and regrettably the individual was pronounced dead at the site.

Due to the incident, the A45 between Raunds and Thrapston was closed in both directions until approximately nine o’clock that evening.

Investigators are now pleading for anyone who was in the vicinity on Tuesday between 11 a.m. and 1:40 p.m., especially at Thrapston services, and who may have dash-cam footage of cars in the layby or of the man’s van, to get in contact.
The force posted on social media, stating: “The A45 has to be closed in both directions between the A14 roundabout (j13/Thrapston/A605) and the B663 at Raunds due to a welfare concern that we’re now handling.

“Avoid the area, please; updates will be provided.”
