Ben Duckett has been selected for the England squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which will take place in the United States and the West Indies beginning in June.
The top-order batter is also included in the team for the previous Vitality IT20 series, which will play four matches in Leeds next month against Pakistan.
During England’s 2022–2023 tour of Pakistan, the top order batsman—a pillar of Brendan McCullum’s Test team—made an impression, averaging 46.60 across seven games.
His career T20 total is over 4500 runs at a strike rate just under 140. In 2020, he scored an undefeated 53 against Surrey to lead the Notts Outlaws to the Vitality Blast championship.
Jofra Archer, a quick bowler for Sussex, is included in the squad after making a full recovery from a right elbow injury. During England’s tour of Bangladesh in March 2023, more than a year ago, Archer made his last appearance at this level.
Tom Hartley, a left-arm spinning all-rounder from Lancashire, is the only player without a cap.
The World Cup team will depart for the Caribbean on May 31 in order to prepare for England’s opening group stage match against Scotland on Wednesday, June 4, at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
