Latics drew 0-0 at Dagenham & Redbridge, missing their opportunity to get back into the National League play-off spots.

After five games, Micky Mellon’s team was forced to settle for a fourth draw.

The Daggers’ Dion Pereira had an opportunity, but Ryan Hill, a teammate, had his shot saved. On the other side, home goalie Elliot Justham produced a fantastic save to keep out Mark Kitching at close range.

Josh Rees was found by Hill, and Dagenham went near again when the midfielder pulled the ball wide before Pereira’s long-range attempt was stopped by Matthew Hudson.

Latics finished the game two points short of the top seven after Pereira’s attempt to take the lead in the 79th minute smacked against the crossbar and Hill’s attempt went over in the closing minutes as the points were split.

“At this time of the year it’s about battling and scrapping and picking up points,” Latics manager Mellon stated following the encounter.

“I can see the fans were unhappy at the end, and it can be frustrating at times.

“We’re all frustrated but we’ve got to stick together and we’ve got to keep going.”

Latics’ next game is against AFC Fylde on Good Friday at 3 p.m. local time.

They still have six league games to play.
