Frank undertook the amazing feat of rowing solo across the Atlantic Ocean for a second time this winter, overcoming the most difficult of conditions to complete the accomplishment.

In doing so, he set a new world record in becoming the oldest person to row across any ocean solo, taking his total fundraising for the charity to over £1.4m.

Frank showed great fortitude to complete his row in 64 days, rowing from San Sebastián de La Gomera to Nelson’s Dockyards, Antigua, despite capsizing four times.

In appreciation of his total fundraising efforts, Simon McDermott, Regional Fundraising Officer for Alzheimer’s Research UK, gave him a certificate.

Frank remarked, “Working with Alzheimer’s Research UK to raise essential funds and awareness of their work has been a great privilege.”

It has been an honour to be able to contribute in this way to the charity’s overall work, since they play a critical role in the fight against dementia.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Alzheimer’s Research UK for their recognition and to everyone who has helped me during my fundraising.”

According to Alzheimer’s Research UK’s regional fundraising officer, Simon McDermott:

“We are incredibly appreciative of Frank’s amazing fundraising efforts on behalf of Alzheimer’s Research UK. His fundraising efforts of more than £1.4 million for dementia research will make a significant contribution to our transformative study of the illnesses that lead to dementia.

“If nothing changes, one in two people will experience dementia—either personally, by caring for a loved one, or both. Frank has not only helped raise essential funding for a cure but also increased awareness of the illness that affects so many families in the UK. We are so grateful to Frank for supporting us.
