The Oldham Times understands that some players who are heading into the final year of their contract at Boundary Park have been encouraged to find other clubs. Among them are goalkeeper Magnus Norman, midfielders Nathan Sheron and Mark Shelton and forward Alex Reid.
Defender Hogan is also believed to have had similar conversation, and also been advised that if he remains at Boundary Park he will no longer continue with the captaincy.
Despite making just three appearances this season, Norman’s strong performances from the previous season earned him a call-up to the England C squad. However, an injury prevented him from receiving a cap.
Due to an injury sustained early in the season, Mat Hudson took his place and played with the gloves the rest of the way.
Latics published a list of players without contracts for the summer yesterday, but they did not provide any additional information about whether offers had been made to players whose contracts expire at the end of June.
The Oldham Times is aware that although there are no formal offers, Mike Fondop, Dan Gardner, Devarn Green, and Harrison McGahey’s options are still open.
