After his loan with Oldham Athletic was terminated, Sai Sachdev went back to his parent club, Sheffield United.

The young player, who can play right back or right wing back, came to Boundary Park in the middle of January and is on loan there through the end of the current campaign.

After making his debut right away, starting in the 2-0 victory over Barnet at home, he has only appeared four more times.

Following the teenager’s signing in the new year, Latics manager Micky Mellon stated, “Sai fits the profile of what we’re looking for in an all-around wing-back.” The Oldham manager also made the same statement.

“We want to add his youthful energy, ambition, and drive to the football team.”

In the goalless draw against Bromley at home in early March, Sachdev was named the sponsors’ man of the match; nonetheless, that ended up being his final appearance for Latics.

Following a Good Friday loss at home to Fylde, in which Harrison McGahey played at right back, manager Mellon made four changes to the starting lineup for the 1-0 loss at Altrincham on Easter Monday. The Latics boss commented, “Most of them (the changes) were forced upon us.” We continue to struggle with the issue of not really having a right back.”

Sachdev got the start for Sheffield United Under 21s against Burnley, which ended in a 2-2 tie.

Keiron Freeman, a former Portsmouth right defender who was signed to a brief six-month contract, left the team after making ten appearances earlier this season.
