In a statement, OXFORD United expressed their happiness over the news that heads of terms for the proposed stadium at The Triangle had been agreed upon.

This morning, United and the local government have struck a deal, according to a report from Oxfordshire County Council.

It happens more than seven months after the cabinet of the council gave its preliminary approval to the land lease for the construction of a new stadium.

The U’s licencing at Kassam Stadium expires in2026, thus the team is aiming to build a new home at The Triangle, south of Kidlington Roundabout.

United applied for full planning permission to build a 16,000-seat stadium to Cherwell District Council in February.

The U’s stated in a statement issued this afternoon: “Our focus is on securing Oxford United’s long-term future and fulfilling our commitments to the Oxfordshire community.” An additional step towards that goal is the heads of terms that have been agreed upon.

We are happy that Oxfordshire County Council has promised to sign the last of the important collaboration and legal agreements this week. This demonstrates that the club has complied with the council’s requirements and taken care of their top priority.
