Brad Arthur, who was fired from the Parramatta Eels less than a month ago, is apparently in the running for a new head coaching position.

Due to the Parramatta Eels’ dismal form and inability to make the NRL playoffs the previous season, Arthur was abruptly fired early this season after 11 years in charge of the team. After being let go by the club, Arthur finds himself in unfamiliar circumstances as he is currently experiencing his first jobless period since 2012.

Josh Hannay, Jason Ryles, Michael Cheika, and Trent Barrett are among the candidates the Eels have nominated to become their next head coach for 2025. Arthur is apparently being considered for the position.

He is reportedly looking for a job in the foreign league should one become available, and Sky Sports reports that he is being considered for a head coaching position in the Super League competition. Super League analyst Jenna Brooks stated on Sky Sports, “I can tell you one name that I am hearing from Down Under that is interested in possibly being considered for a Head Coaching role in Super League, should one become available: the former Parramatta Eels head coach Brad Arthur.”

That’s one to watch carefully, for sure.

In addition to serving as the Eels’ head coach, Arthur also held positions as Craig Bellamy’s assistant coach for the Melbourne Storm’s Under-20 team, which won the 2009 U20 Grand Final, as well as assistant coach for the Manly Sea Eagles under Geoff Toovey.

With 137 victories from 264 games, or a 52% winning rate, he currently holds the position of head coach. He guided the Parramatta Eels to the 2022 NRL Grand Final before they were defeated by the Penrith Panthers.
