At around 3.30pm yesterday (Monday, 22 April), a blue Volvo V40 headed north collided with a brown Toyota Prius travelling in the opposite way at the “blue bridge” towards Newborough.
The passenger in the Volvo, a woman in her 70s from Amersham, Buckinghamshire, and the driver of the Prius, a guy in his 50s from Peterborough, were both declared dead at the spot.
The driver of the Volvo, a man in his 70s from Amersham, was rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with critical injuries and remains there.
In a statement, Detective Inspector Garry Webb said: “I would like to hear from any witnesses or anyone who has dashcam footage of the collision which could help us piece together what happened in the moments leading up to the crash.”
Anyone with information or footage should report it through the force’s website, referencing CC-22042024-0283.
