Following a wave of thefts, keyless car owners are being advised to take additional security measures to deter criminals.

According to Lincolnshire Police, there have been many “high powered car” thefts in the county’s south in recent days.

“The culprits are using relay equipment to boost the signal of an electronic car key within the home, to open a vehicle outside,” a police official stated. They are directing an antenna towards the property to accomplish this.

In addition, there has been an increase in attempted automobile thefts. Although these attempts have been unsuccessful, we still want to alert our communities and provide information on how to stay safe.

“Car owners can buy faraday bags, which are designed to block electromagnetic waves and prevent thieves from remotely obtaining electronic keys for cars.

“People with Secured by Design certification perform at their best.

“You can make sure the bag is working properly by putting the keys inside, approaching the car, and making sure the door doesn’t open.

Furthermore, certain key fobs can be “turned off,” although it is up to individual car owners to confirm this with local dealerships and manufacturers.

If your car is targeted, the usage of CCTV can serve as a useful tool for police to obtain evidence and a deterrence.

Additionally, wheel locks can make your car immovable and make it harder for thieves to get around them.

Local law enforcement officials are making every effort to apprehend the robbers and are following every avenue of inquiry at their disposal.

The alert was issued in response to the early-morning targeting of four cars in Spalding yesterday.

Thankfully, the thieves were unable to take off with the Volvo that they targeted on the town’s Osier Road at approximately 2.40 in the morning. (Event 29 on February 28, 24.)

A blue BMW 840I M SPORT was taken from Carrington Close in Spalding at around 6.40am, after a few hours. (Event 57 from February 28, 24.)

About fifteen minutes later, a grey Audi Q4 E-TRON was stolen from Larkspur Way in Spalding. (Event 63 from February 28, 24.)

At 9.20 a.m. on February 28, 24, robbers attempted to take an Audi from a nearby road, according to Incident 119.

These four instances, according to the officers, are related.

In a separate incident, robbers may have employed a different technique to take a grey Land Rover Discovery from the Boston parking lot of Pilgrim Hospital at around seven in the morning. (Event 64 from February 28, 24.)
