One legendary player from Peterborough United may not be the only elite football player to come from Grant McCann’s family.

McCann joined Posh in the summer of 2010 after joining from Scunthorpe United, and he soon made a name for himself. He had led a gifted team from the front at the end of that season, and he had guided Posh to promotion from League One. The Northern Irishman scored twice, once at Old Trafford in the final victory over Huddersfield Town and once in both legs of a semi-final victory over MK Dons.

McCann scored 35 goals in 186 games as a player for Posh before taking on two stints as manager.

The 44-year-old and his wife Kelly have raised their three football-mad sons in this area, and they have never left.

Bayley, the oldest boy, was a member of the Posh Academy and had a stint on the first team’s substitute bench. The 18-year-old midfielder recently inked a new deal with Barnsley, one of his father’s former teams.

Frankie, the oldest son, 11, is doing well at the Posh Academy and recently inked a new contract. Frankie is a flexible player who can play holding midfielder in addition to his primary position as a right-back.

Jesse, the middle son, plays forward for the Deeping United Under 14s in the Junior Alliance League of the Peterborough & District. For his team, Jesse has scored 100 goals in the previous three seasons, including a goal every game in Division One this year.

Grant highlighted earlier this week on social media that his parents are understandably proud of all three of his sons.

“Jesse Boy, 100 goals in three seasons!” he exclaimed. “So proud of all of you at Deeping Utd, mate.”

Additionally, Grant expressed his happiness with Bayley’s new contract at Barnsley by using X. “Stay hard, buddy. I’m delighted that little Frankie Boy has signed a new contract at Peterborough United.”
