Plymouth Argyle agree deal to sign Leeds giant

Football Insider has been informed by sources that Darko Gyabi, a massive midfielder for Leeds United, has decided to return to Plymouth Argyle for the entire season on loan.

Gyabi, 20, will play for Wayne Rooney this time around following a strong showing at Home Park in the second half of the previous season.

The midfield player, who has also played for Leeds in the Premier League and Championship, is reportedly under contract with both clubs.

Gyabi is leaving for more senior experience, therefore Daniel Farke and the Elland Road staff are in the midst of a massive squad overhaul. Account statistics must be declared by tomorrow.

Although Gyabi’s loan to Rooney’s Plymouth will help with Leeds United’s accounts by reducing the pay bill, former Whites custodian Paul Robinson [29 June] informed Football Insider that significant sales might yet occur.

If Leeds sell players like Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto to help with the finances, Robinson is also optimistic that Leeds can still make it to the playoffs as long as they keep the “nucleus” of the team.

Leeds intends to bolster their midfield, which would prevent Gyabi from having regular opportunities in the Championship at Elland Road this year. Incomings will also be soon.

Callum O’Hare of Coventry City is seen as a more attacking midfielder than Gyabi’s “box-to-box” role, but he has been heavily linked to a move as a free agent, with former colleague Alan Hutton telling Football Insider [19 June] that Farke would be better off signing him.

Under Rooney’s tutelage, Gyabi—who was previously with Manchester City before joining Leeds on a professional contract—will welcome the opportunity to play frequently in the Championship once more. His goal is to go back to Leeds and contend for a spot in the starting lineup.

The present contract for the 6’5″ England Under-20 midfielder with the team expires in the summer of 2026.
