Both of them may be leaving Devon before the start of the upcoming season, as the left-back is expected to go this summer.

Wayne Rooney has finally settled in at Home Park following a protracted hiring procedure, and the new Plymouth Argyle manager will be assembling his team in front of the next Championship season.

When the Pilgrims resume preseason training in early January, the former Manchester United star will be keeping a close watch on them. A camp in Marbella is planned.

However, it is inevitable that not every player now under contract with the team will be in his plans when the season begins in August, as departures are anticipated in the coming days.

Here, we examine two players who might depart Devon this season after Mickel Miller Several Championship teams were interested in the wingback, but he refused to sign the new contract that was given to him earlier this year.

Tyreik Wright

Tyreik Wright’s terrible time as an Argyle player makes it difficult to imagine him ever don a green shirt again; since moving to Home Park in January 2023, the winger’s career has just not taken off.

Having played just 503 minutes of football and made just six starts for the Argyle team, the former Aston Villa player appeared unconfident when he did play for the Devon team.

For the 22-year-old, a repeat of last season seems most likely. That season, he went back on loan to his former team, Bradford City, where he scored twice in 14 games and appeared to be enjoying his time with the Bantams.

Rooney will probably give the young player an opportunity to shine during the preseason, but as he approaches the last year of his contract, the Greens might be inclined to try to cash in on him this summer and spend his salary on a player who will play a bigger role in the coming season.

When asked about his current situation at Home Park before to the end of the season, Wright provided an honest evaluation of the situation.

“It’s football, it’s a business,” he declared. They will most likely invest in and acquire stronger players if they stay up.

“Given their performances and stats this season, players may decide to leave in the summer.

It might be better for me if they fall. I’m not sure, but I’m not focusing on that at the moment.

Wright may be out of a job, as Argyle did stay up, and he will probably be moving to League One or League Two It goes without saying that Morgan Whittaker was in high demand during the most recent January transfer window, with both European powerhouse Lazio and Premier League teams allegedly keeping an eye on his progress.

The wide player was reportedly being pursued by Brentford and Fulham, with Argyle reportedly holding out for a £15 million offer to let him leave.

It would not be surprising to see top level clubs, or even those with more financial clout in the Championship, try to swoop for the former Swansea City man this summer, given his 19 league goals in the previous campaign, even though transfer chatter has seemed to have subsided recently.

Twenty-three-year-olda constant throughout the Greens’ most recent season, contributing significantly to their continued play in the second division with several game-winning performances, particularly during the initial part of the season.

Whittaker secured vital points for the Devon team by scoring his team’s first goal of the season, a hat-trick against Norwich City, and late goals against Middlesbrough and Rotherham United

A player with his ability to score goals from long range and create opportunities for teammates in the last third will be highly sought after by many elite teams, thus Argyle could expect increased attention in their star player this summer.
Neil Dewsnip

Neil Dewsnip, the football director, has already acknowledged as much this summer. Given that the funds may be used to bolster the team, it would be difficult for a team like Argyle to reject the reported transfer fee.

“Good for Morgan,” he remarked. Will he be of interest to anyone? There will undoubtedly be. Excellent players are hard to come by in the Championship. We’ll have to wait and see, even in the Premier League what transpires. I am not aware of anything being discussed or placed on the table at this time.

“First and foremost, we need someone who is willing to pay that amount of money for that sort of value. Discussions about that will take place if and when that occurs.

Fans of Argyle will be crossing their fingers that he stays with them for the foreseeable future, but it’s not impossible that the left-footed wonder may leave Home Park this summer.
