MEN Sport provides the lowdown on Manchester United-linked Baylee Dipepa who has shone for England U-17’s and Port Vale

According to reports, Manchester United is considering Port Vale forward Baylee Dipepa.

After a dismal 2023–24 season under Erik ten Hag, uncertainty surrounding the manager and several players has left United facing a crucial summer. Dipepa is one of the prospective new players being linked to a move to Old Trafford. The striker’s profile below may indicate a shift in the team’s transfer approach under new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos business.

Career so far

Although he only signed his first professional contract with Port Vale in January, the 17-year-old has been playing well for the League One team this season. This season, Dipepa has scored twice for them, including a magnificent solo effort on Friday that helped them defeat Bristol Rovers 2-0.

During the international break, he has also been playing well for England’s U-17 team, scoring twice in a 5-1 victory over Northern Ireland while coming off the bench. On his entire debut against Hungary, the forward scored the game’s first goal in a 5-0 victory.
The Sun claims that Man United is interested in recruiting the best young players, given their recent shift in emphasis. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has emphasised that rather than acquiring experienced players, United should focus on acquiring Jude Bellingham and the next Kylian Mbappe.

United reportedly wants to finalise a deal for the youthful talent as soon as possible. The agreement Dipepa has with Port Vale is valid until 2026.

The Verdict

Although Dipepa is a bright prospect, he is probably not yet ready for the Manchester United starting lineup. On the other hand, if he signs this summer, expect him to play on United’s preseason tour with the goal of gradually acclimating him to the club in a manner akin to Kobbie Mainoo.
