Ahead of the final season-defining fixture against champions Portsmouth, Michael Skubala set out the mentality the Imps will require to prevail.
Given what was on the line for the Robins, the match was always going to be difficult, and the Imps’ poor start didn’t help matters. However, MS believed that as the team grew into the game, they became more themselves, putting on a terrific second-half effort that put a lot of pressure on the opposition and ended up winning deservedly.
The goal from Freddie Draper was a great take on his thigh and finish, coming from Lincoln getting the ball and player numbers into the box which allowed the quality to show in the end.
MS believes the players have earned the right to play a match despite the added pressure that playing Portsmouth brings. The guys are enthusiastic for the supporters and constantly mentioning how the ground will be shaking. They and the personnel are quite proud of their current status and intend to make the LNER a difficult place for Portsmouth to come.
“We are going to challenge the champions. “What better way to try to get into the playoffs?”

“Ultimately when you keep looking and going back to it, it’s going to be down to winning this game against a very good Portsmouth team” .
On the injury front, Reeco Hackett-Fairchild will miss this game and may be sidelined for the season regardless of the outcome against Portsmouth. Teddy Bishop is ‘touch and go’, but MS hinted that an unidentified player may be ‘return’, subject to additional evaluation.
MS had the opportunity to meet new investors Ron and Andy Fowler and was suitably enthused as a consequence; this is fantastic news. He emphasised that they offer a plethora of athletic experience from the United States. What is happening off the pitch at Lincoln, around football, is really positive and moving in the correct manner. It is beneficial for both the head coach and the fans to know that things are going well.
Off the pitch, Lincoln is expanding, creating, and strengthening the club in a variety of ways, so the investment is not based solely on transfer money.
“I believe Lincoln was ahead of his time in terms of building the club and not rushing things. That’s why I believe we’re in this predicament right now.”
