Journalist Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports claims that the Lilywhites have made an offer to the Reds for Bowler, who is not part of their plans. He continued by saying that within the following few days, the talks should move very swiftly.
According to another source, Hull City is also interested in signing the right-wing winger, according to Alan Nixon, a journalist for The Sun, on his Patreon page. Bowler spent the 2019–20 season on loan with the Tigers, where he has already appeared.
Bowler was linked to both Sheffield United and QPR earlier this month, according to HITC Sport, but Hull and North End now appear to be leading contenders. This transfer appears to have a few twists and turns yet, with other clubs showing interest. The transfer window closes at 11:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30.
After reportedly paying £4 million to join Forest in September 2022, the 25-year-old was sent out on loan to Olympiacos right away, and he hasn’t played for the Reds in a competitive match since. He played just seven games during his tenure in Greece. He then returned to Blackpool for a second stint, however he was unable to prevent their relegation.
Bowler played 39 games in all competitions last season while on loan at Cardiff City, tallying five goals and two assists. Given that his contract expires in the summer of 2025, he hasn’t been included in any of Forest’s starting lineups for either of their first two games. It appears that his future is not at the City Ground.
In 2021, he moved to Blackpool, where he established himself as a senior football player. His one-year contract was extended when he helped Blackpool finish 16th in the Championship that season with seven goals and three assists in 42 games.
He wouldn’t stick around for Bloomfield Road for much longer though with Forest signing him on the back of a good season. Six months later with Bowler returning, he made 25 appearances for the Seasiders, getting four goals and two assists, but that wasn’t enough to prevent them from dropping into League One. Across two separate spells, Bowler made 71 appearances for North End’s Lancashire rivals with 12 goals and five assists.
