FC Twente centre back Robin Propper has agreed to join Rangers, sources have told Football Insider.
The 30-year-old defender is now anticipated to complete his transfer to the Glasgow club by having a medical soon.
Propper will take over for Connor Goldson, who earlier in the transfer window sealed a move to the Cypriot team Aris Limassol.
The Dutchman will be the ninth player signed by Rangers during this transfer window, including Oscar Cortes, who returned on loan with an obligation to buy in the summer, Vaclav Cerny, Hamza Igamane, Jefte, Clinton Nsiala, Liam Kelly, Connor Barron, and Oscar Cortes, who made his loan move permanent.
As manager Phillipe Clement leads the team through a significant overhaul, there will probably be more departures at the Ibrox.
On July 28, Football Insider reported that Jose Cifuentes had received instructions to look for a new team.
Rangers are also working on more signings, with at least two attackers expected to join as well.
Rangers set to replace Connor Goldson with Robin Propper
Propper has been a mainstay in FC Twente’s first team since his move to the club back in 2021-22 – he has made 115 appearances and scored 11 goals for the Dutch club.
Despite having strong club form, the defender has not yet made a senior appearance for his country, although he has represented it at the Under-19 level.
After Goldson left, Rangers were looking for a new defender, and they think Propper can provide the needed experience as they try to unseat rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premier League championship.
On August 3, the Glasgow team will play Hearts in their league debut.
In other developments, the Rangers have begun negotiations to replace Todd Cantwell.
