After coming up through the Royals system, 27-year-old Rinomhota made around 150 appearances for the team and was named Player of the Season in 2019.

The Zimbabwean international, who will leave on a free transfer in 2022, has made less than 50 appearances in his two years as a Bluebird and has not made a significant impression in South Wales.

The aggressive midfielder, who had joined Rotherham United on loan in January, made 16 appearances for the Millers as they retreated to the bottom of League One of the Championship.

Journalist Darren Witcoop reports that Birmingham City is “among those exploring a deal” and that Rinomhota is “expected to leave this summer.”

As the Blues continue to aim high in the summer window, this announcement coincides with the linkage of Josh Laurent, Rinomhota’s former midfield partner at Reading, to St Andrew’s.

Because of the uncertainties surrounding ownership, Reading is presently unable to function during the transfer window; nevertheless, a deal with Rob Couhig is said to be nearing completion.
